Prebiotics improve your pets’ ability to digest food. It inhibits the growth of harmful gut bacteria by acting as an energy source for colon cells and preserving fluid balance. Like probiotics, prebiotics improve gut health by encouraging the growth of flora. Unlike probiotics, prebiotics are not live bacteria, but rather are plant-based fibers that help to regenerate microorganisms living in pets’ lower gut. Prebiotics are best when served in combination with probiotics.
