Inflammation

Inflammation in both humans and animals, alike, are the body’s immune response against foreign substances, injuries or infection. Inflammation occurs when plasma and white blood cells are drawn to a part of the body to fight infection, take away dead cells and initiate tissue repair. Because there is increased blood flow to the traumatized area, the region often appears redder and warmer than normal. Overly permeable blood vessels naturally leak fluid into the surrounding area, causing swelling.
